In 2016, Red Lake County SWCD staff plan to monitor monthly six river monitoring sites: Klondike Bridge, Black River, Huot Bridge, Terrebonne Bridge, Plummer Bridge, and Roland Bridge.
Red Lake Watershed District SWAG/WRAP Monitoring
Red Lake County SWCD monitored six sites for the Red Lake Watershed District (SWAG/WRAPs Study) in Red Lake County in 2014 and in 2015.
Red Lake Watershed District SWAG/TMDL Monitoring
Red Lake County SWCD monitored four sites for the Red Lake Watershed District (SWAG/TMDL Study) in 2012 and 2013.
Red Lake County SWCD SWAG Monitoring
A Surface Water Assessment Grant through MPCA was received in 2011 to monitor these five sites in Red Lake County for a three year period (2011 - 2013).
A Surface Water Assessment Grant (SWAG) through MPCA was received in 2008, 2009, and 2010 to monitor these five sites and to purchase river monitoring equipment. The SWAG monitoring was completed in the fall of 2010, a final report was completed and submitted to MPCA for approval, and the SWAG funds have been spent.
Red Lake County SWCD River Monitoring Program
Red Lake County SWCD has monitored these six sites since 1998 collecting baseline water quality data. The District will continue to monitor these sites as long as funding is available for the program.
River Watch Program
A program that actively engages citizens in monitoring the health of their local watersheds in collaboration with watershed district staff, local schools, organizations, and River Watch personnel.
Students from both Lafayette High School - Red Lake Falls and Red Lake County Central - Oklee participate in the River Watch Program in Red Lake County.
Students monitor streams through Red Lake County for different water quality parameters.
