Public Education:

Public Education is done through the District website, county newspapers, direct mailings, and through brochures available at the SWCD Office.

NW MN Water Festival
River Watch

Envirothon

The Envirothon is an outdoor learning competition for high school students in grades 9 through 12.  It is one of the state's largest environmental education initiatives.  The program is coordinated  by local Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs).  

Our local Envirothon is held at Rydell Wildlife Refuge. Schools from Polk, Norman, Mahnomen, and Red Lake Counties participate in this event.

NW MN Water Festival

The Water Festival is a two day event for 4th graders in Northwestern Minnesota.  Students take part in interactive learning stations that are all about our precious water resources.  Water quality, ground and spring
water, flooding, aquatic invasive species, and watersheds are addressed; as well as, casting and fish painting.  The annual event is held every September in Warren and Fertile. There are approximately 650-750 students
who attend this event annually.

Trinity Creek Ranch Soil Health Field Day

The Trinity Creek Ranch Soil Health Field Day was held on July 30, 2019. There was over 70 individuals who attended the event. Plans are to hold a Soil Health Field Day annually in Red Lake County.
